Modern Fishing
When you look back on the history of anything it is inching to see how things have changed through the years. And one of the places where things have changed a great deal is in the fishing industry. When you think back to the old fishermen on the little tug boats or the images of Herman Melville and Moby Dick and Captain Ahab it is an interesting reflection on the way we live today that there is not really that much of a connection between man and the water anymore. In the modern era we feel as though we have conquered any sort of control that the water had over us even though we still understand so little about what it is a goes on in the water and what goes on well underneath the water.
With the advent of modern fishing we are at once introduced to a whole host of new and interesting things. From the podcasts to the electric fishing rod which seems more like a stun gun and beyond, modern fishing continues to change and grow and evolve and this is one of the things that many people refuse to understand.
While there is a great deal of people who still hold on to the old ways of fishing techniques there are also people who are interested in the modern aspect of fishing and how it will continue to help people in the future become more acclimated with the water and more in touch with how fishing is done.

Modern fishing has enabled us to turn the fishing world into sort of a science rather than an art which it really is. People don't understand that fishing can go on and on without any real chance of success for an indefinite amount of time. However with the advent of modern fishing there is a great deal of substantive change in the way we understand fishing. People understand fishing in terms of a bottom line: how much can we get or how much can we put in? This is one of the ways that modern fishing has changed and grown and evolved in our culture. It is no longer a solitary sea captain holding on for dear life as he hopes to earn his dinner for the day and maybe a few extra fish to sell at market; it is now controlled by big business and big Money and they understand that they can be out there until they hit a certain point when they're not making money anymore and then they bring everyone back in and the fishing is done until someone else comes along.
